"Why should I hire a professional book designer?"

Good question. I'm asked this a lot.

Sure you can do it yourself, or ask an artistic friend, or use an off-the-shelf template. But odds are that your book just won't look as good—or read as well—as one designed by a pro. And there's a very good reason for that.

Book design has a language all its own.

Book design is a visual language. And like any language, it has a specialized vocabulary, grammar, and form. In this way, designing a book is quite different from designing a brochure, or an ad, or a magazine. Professional book designers understand this. They’ve mastered the language, and know how to make a book look and feel like a book. And more than that, they know how to make your book look like your book, consistent with the unique combination of subject, content, and style that you wish to portray. In the end, the very best work always ends up being the product of many hands.

I'm here to help you do it yourself without it looking like you did it yourself.
